Delk Sentenced in District Court

A sentencing hearing was held Thursday in 4th Judicial District Court for 47-year-old Sheridan resident Eddie Delk, who recently plead “No Contest” to the charge of felony aggravated assault and battery. The incident that led to the aggravated assault charge occurred on the evening of March 19th of this year where Delk shot Kenny Rosalez in the neck during an altercation at a home on Taylor Avenue in Sheridan.

Prior to sentencing, the victim, Kenny Rosalez addressed the Court by stating that Doctors told him that he was very lucky to be alive as the bullet was a quarter of an inch from severing a major artery in his neck. He also stated that he still suffers physically from the gunshot wound with pain in his left arm and shoulder and has had to deal with a constant ringing in his ears from the gunshot. Rosalez also expressed to the Court that he's suffered financial difficulty due to medical bills that he's incurred due to his injuries.

Delk's Attorney, Jesse Hardy called several witnesses to the stand that included Delk's ex-wife and his 16-year-old son. Both testified that at no time have they ever witnessed Delk display violent or aggressive behavior.

District Court Judge John Fenn sentenced Delk to 2 to 4 years in prison with credit for 272 days served. Delk must also pay over $22,000 in restitution.
