District Hopes for Liaison to be In Place by Fall

Sheridan County School District 2 hopes that an early childhood liaison will be in place by fall.

That's according to Scott Stults, the district's director of elementary education, who unveiled plans for the new liaison at the school board meeting earlier this week. In an interview after the meeting, he said the district and Sheridan College will start advertising the new position relatively soon.

The liaison will be hired by Sheridan College, but Stults said the school district will be involved.

Part of the goal, he said, is communication.

He said Sheridan College has an early childhood program, and he anticipates that the liaison would work with the students in the college program in a practical setting. He also anticipates that the liaison would work with the school district's kindergarten teachers and parents.

He said the district believes parents and childcare providers are doing the best that they can for their children, but that the school district can help in the process.
