Fair Board Approves Gold Buckle Seating Plan

A plan by Sheridan's Gold Buckle Club to add nearly 400 seats at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds main arena received the go-ahead Thursday night from the county fair association.

Fair board members were unanimous in approving the two-phase plan which will be implemented and paid for by the club. The club is an organization of people who support the annual Sheridan-WYO Rodeo, which is held at the fairgrounds on West Fifth Street in July.

In other action, the fair board tabled a proposal to explore the possibility of extending WiFi capabilities throughout the fairgrounds. Board members had questions regarding both the need and the affordability of such an action.

Earlier in the meeting, Sheridan County Commissioner Mike Nichol, who attended the meeting as an observer, cautioned the board that the state is heading into a period of fiscal belt-tightening. That means that grants and loans from the state may not be as available from the state in the years ahead as they have been in the past.
