Filing Starts May 12 for Political Offices

Filing starts next month for candidates seeking federal, state, county or municipal offices.

Sheridan County Election Supervisor Brenda Kekich says people may file between May 12 and May 27. People seeking state offices will file with the Secretary of State. Those seeking county posts, or running for precinct committee positions will file with her office at the County Courthouse, and municipal candidates file with the clerks in their municipalities.

Also up for election this year are positions on Sheridan County's three school districts, the Northern Wyoming Community College District and the Sheridan County Conservation District. Filing for those offices will be Aug. 10-27, and candidates run only on the general election ballots in November, not the primary election ballots.

Up for election in the primaries is U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis, state Sen. Dave Kinskey and all four state representatives, county commissioners Mike Nickel and Tom Ringley, Sheridan Mayor John Heath and city councilors Kristin Kelly, Shelleen Smith and Thayer Shafer. Also up for election are two council members in Dayton and three in Ranchester.
