Final Market Features Squash Races, Apple Bobbing Contest

A squash derby, apple bobbing contest, classic American Gothic photo opportunity and an appearance by a celebrity guest will all be part of the harvest celebration today in Sheridan.

Bonnie Gregory, who’s been the season’s director for the farmer’s market gave us a preview of the activities this week during The Morning Show, with Host Trevor Jackson. She started with the squash derby.

The market will be open from 10-2 on Grinnell Plaza in downtown Sheridan. It’s been a good harvest season, she said, so more than 40 vendors are expected to be bringing their produce and wares. She said they’re also holding a plant, seed and tool swap during the market and there will be an apple press on site.

Activities will also include face painting and a bouncy house for the children and music will be provided by the local, and internationally known group, “Two Wet to Plow.”
