Fire Danger in the Bighorns at Moderate

Sheridan has been experiencing sunny, hot day after sunny, hot day and that is melting the mountain snowpack rapidly. This has led to moderate fire danger in the Bighorn National Forest.

This rating means that visitors should be careful when building fires or using equipment that might produce sparks. Another danger, dry thunderstorms, can produce lightning fires with no rain.

There are currently no fire restrictions in the forest but visitors should keep water and a shovel nearby, keep campfires small and never leave a campfire unattended. For more information call 674-2600.
