First ‘Unplugged’ of the Year

Co-hosted by the Sheridan Community Land Trust and Science Kids, Unplugged, the creative monthly outdoor education program for families met for the first time on Sunday.

Sarah Mentock of Science Kids explained the program.

The scavenger hunt was held on the Red Grade Trail and families looked for wildflowers, listened for birds and even tasted a bit of a burnt tree. Mentock said it’s vital to get kids unplugged.

Despite lots of wind, six and a half year-old Ariana May Cruz joined nearly 10 other families on the scavenger hunt.

She learned the names of several wildflowers making their spring-time appearance.

The next Unplugged event will take place on Sunday, June 26th.
