“For the Frogs, Leave it to Beaver”

As part of the continuing Sheridan College Science Lecture Series, Wednesday night, research scientist Victoria Zero presented her project focusing on three of Wyoming’s amphibians and Sheridan Media’s Judy Hagerott was there and brings us the report.

No leap-frogging here. The room was filled to capacity in the Science Building at Sheridan College as community members came out to hear Victoria Zero talk about Wyoming’s amphibians. She said we can learn a lot from common everyday species.

Currently across the nation, amphibian populations are declining, but add beavers to the picture and populations thrive, especially for our common Leopard frog.

Frogs and salamanders love the wetlands, but Zero added droughts are becoming more common.

Zero also talked about the potentials of using environmental DNA techniques.
