During his bi-monthly news conference Wednesday, Governor Dave Freudenthal spoke about the oil spill in the gulf and how it will impact Wyoming.

Freudenthal said that while the Bureau of Land Management’s just-released oil and gas reforms were responsive to his concerns about categorical exclusions and the new rules are more protective of states’ rights, he questions whether or not environmental protesters will ever be satisfied.

The Governor said he’s been briefed by Homeland Security about the damage caused by a tornado in southeast Wyoming, and that local officials have things under control.

The town of Burns, about 30 miles east of Cheyenne was hit the hardest Tuesday night, as several homes and businesses received extensive damage from the storm.
