Guild Presents Romantic Comedy, ‘Outside Mullingar’

A romantic comedy revolving around two Irish farm families will be brought to the local stage this month and next by the Sheridan Civic Theatre Guild. Director Gene Davis told Host Kim Love on the Public Pulse show that he found the play called, “Outside Mullingar,” while surfing the internet.

That dialogue, he said, was written by playwrite John Patrick Shanley.

“Moonstruck” people might remember, from the movie version made in the late 1980s starring Cher and Nicolas Cage. Davis went on to describe the plot, following a prompt by the host.

The local production of the play will be presented over three weekends, this weekend and the following and then the first weekend in February. The play is being staged at the Carriage House Theater located on the Trail End State Historic Site in Sheridan. Tickets are available at the WYO theater in downtown Sheridan.
