Hardin Schools Locked Down

Hardin Public Schools were locked down Friday morning, and students sent home, according to an administrative assistant at the district office.

The assistant, who declined to give her name, said she was told the lockdown was “community related,” but no other information was available. She said the lockdown happened shortly after school started.

Schools remained in lockdown all day. More than 1,700 students attend schools in Hardin. The assistant said she didn't know if other schools in the area were also locked down. According to earlier reports from the Billings Gazette, the high school was locked down Thursday afternoon after “suspicious liquids” were found, but the administrative assistant said the only lockdown of the schools was on Friday. School Superintendent Dennis Gerke could not be reached for comments.
