The History of Food Production in Sheridan County

Tuesday night, in the Inner Circle of the library, local historian and Director of the Wyoming Room at the library, Judy Slack, presented a program illustrating the vast amount of food production in Sheridan County in it's early days.

And that's not all.

At one time there were 30 dairies across the county and turkeys, thousands and thousands of turkeys were raised.

No one knows for sure why the large food production in Sheridan County ended. One reason could be the government started to step in with lots of regulations farmers couldn't afford or transportation costs became too high, but Sheridan County, at one time was a major food producer for Wyoming.
