Hospital Board Approves Purchase of Telemetry Equipment

Trustees of Sheridan Memorial Hospital approved purchase of telemetry and monitoring equipment for the hospital at their meeting Wednesday night.

Cost of the equipment is about $1.8 million. Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty said the purchase will provide a new telemetry system and cardiac monitoring throughout the entire hospital.

Also at the board meeting, McCafferty said the hospital is working with a group called G4S, which has conducted a security risk assessment for the hospital.

He said the work is connected with the Title 25 patients as well as a number of other areas of risk that the hospital has. Title 25 patients are those who are involuntarily hospitalized because of mental illness other mental issues. McCafferty has said in the past that the hospital doesn't have the staff or the facilities to appropriately deal with Title 25 patients.
