Partiers at The Hub on Smith Street greeted the New Year with a ginger ale toast and a rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” at noon Monday.

Carmen Rideout, who's The Hub's executive director, said the annual New Year's at Noon celebration is a tradition of several years' standing.

Jean Harm thought about 75 people attended the event Monday. She added that was the smallest crowd ever for the New Year's at Noon event, but figured Monday's storm probably kept a lot of people away.

Usually, she said, The Hub was setting up extra tables in the dining room to accommodate those in attendance.

In addition to a special dinner, the event included music courtesy of The Hubsters, a band composed of Hub employees.
