An informational meeting on the proposed ICE Detention Center in Uinta County near Evanston was held Thursday night at the Sheridan Fulmer Library.

The meeting was hosted by Josh Hansen with Real Resistance Wyoming. #WyoSayNo, according to their website, is a grassroots coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to stopping the proposed Uinta County Immigration Prison. Their mission is to keep families together, protect rural communities, and to say Wyoming won’t detain for private gain.

Hanson said that there are several reasons they are opposed to the for profit facility that would be run by Management and Training Corporation out of Utah.

Hanson said Utah, the state where MTC is based out of, said no to the idea of building an ICE Detention Facility there.

Hanson said the next step is for people to get involved and contact their elected officials.

To hear more from Hanson about the issue, tune into the second half of Monday’s Public Pulse program on News Talk 9-30 KROE. Hanson will be a guest on part two of the program, which will air live at approximately 9:30 Monday morning on KROE.
