Johnson County Clerk Discusses Voter Machine Security

Johnson County Clerk Vicki Edelman brought changes coming concerning voter machine security to the attention of the county commissioners.

She explained that Secretary of State Edward Buchanon is concerned with election integrity in the state.

Edelman has begun looking at options for an area to house the election equipment, security cameras, and key card locks for the area that will track who is coming and going in the area and when.

Commissioner Bill Novotny suggested that County Building Facilities Manager David Eads look into the costs of refitting the room currently housing the election equipment with bars on the windows and security cameras, as well as looking into refitting the old court vault upstairs with a cage and security measures as well as another room upstairs and bring the information back for the commission to review.
