Leather Show Attracts Hundreds

It was a rendezvous of sorts as leather workers and those that supply the goods and services for the craft gathered over the weekend at the Holiday Inn in Sheridan for the 17th Annual Rocky Mountain Leather Trade Show.

Exhibitors from around the world and 68 companies were on hand to ply their wares as over 1000 visitors attended the leather workers’ show which featured over 40 classes on how to work with leather.

Dave Reis, advertising manager of the show said this was the place where saddle makers and leather workers join up, calling Sheridan a “mecca,” noting the number of saddle makers in the area.  Reis indicated that the show is a gathering of folks that are “living history; folks that are legendary in their own time.”

The first leather trade show was held 1994 at the old pavilion at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.
