Local Homeless Shelter Housed Family Over Holidays

During a public gathering of representatives from local service agencies held last month, Claude Alley, who is the director of homeless services for the local Volunteers of America organization, said there was a family staying there, at that time, and a church group was purchasing presents for both the children and parents.

But, he said, he didn’t know if they would stay and that is always an issue. Still, he said, they did have room at the shelter, so Captain Don Wariner of the Salvation Army asked about the stipulations.

Alley went on to say they must work hard to make that happen.

Alley will be talking about the homeless shelter next week on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse. The show airs weekday mornings on KROE, at 9, right after the news. Alley is scheduled to be a guest on Tuesday morning.
