Local Police Sergeant Warns of Phone Scam

Sgt. Travis Koltiska of the Sheridan Police Department called Sheridan Media to warn the community about a recent phone scam.

He said a local citizen reported receiving a call from an 877 prefix number from a man identifying himself only as, Dustin, from the local police department, saying he was soliciting funds to help with DUI enforcement.

He said you can just ignore the call or report the caller to authorities.

Not only is it not necessary, but, he said, could tie up the department's phone lines.

Still, he said, if you do feel you've been a victim, don't hesitate to call the department. The number is 672-2413.
