You may have seen the promos on TV advertising that the A&E show "Longmire", based on Ucross author Craig Johnson's books, will debut this summer.

A 40-second teaser video for “Longmire” says that the show will premiere this June. The pilot reportedly will air June 3rd and throughout the summer on Sunday nights.

Australian actor Robert Taylor plays the lead, Walt Longmire. The character's creator, Johnson, is out of town right now, but he talked to Sheridan Media back in December of 2010 when the announcement came down that the show had been picked up.

Since that time the pilot was filmed (last spring) and 10 episodes have been scheduled on A&E. Absaroka County is the fictional setting of Johnson's books - a depiction of Sheridan and Johnson Counties where Longmire has been sheriff for 23 years.

Producers worked closely with Johnson for the highly character-centered series. The show is filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
