A Look Back in Time: July 1, 1916

Now here's Sheridan Media's look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on July 1, 1916.

Joe Amil of Dietz is in the state hospital in serious condition, suffering from a fractured skull. He was struck by a brick thrown by another man during a quarrel between the two men over a dispute about room rent.

The recruiting office for National Guard Company D in Sheridan was closed today, and Lt. J.J. Field and Quartermaster Sgt. Jacob Markert departed for Cheyenne on Engine 42, accompanied by the recruits who joined during the week.

A handsome bronze drinking fountain was installed on the ground floor of the courthouse lobby today. The fountain is a memorial to the late William H. Veach, deputy sheriff who was killed in a battle with a horse thief.
