Mavrakis Should Be Swimming with Trout

A local pond should be well-stocked with trout. Leslie Stratmoen has the report.

Mavrakis Pond on the northwest side of Sheridan ought to be swimming with golden trout this spring. I was there for the stocking in the fall, with game official Bud Stewart. I’d popped over to catch some pictures, which for me can sometimes be a precarious proposition.

And there they went, the golden-colored fish whooshing out with the water flowing out of the PVC pipe connected to the traveling water tank and swimming right into the pond. Within minutes, it seemed they were happy to be in their new home. I’m not sure if that can be said, really, about fish, but so it seemed because they could be seen jumping and flipping in the middle of the pond.
