Sheridan Mayor John Heath made the announcement Friday that he won’t be running for the position of mayor of Sheridan in this year's election. Heath said that it’s time for some new blood at City Hall.

Heath said that despite a slumping mineral industry, he’s confident the city will remain in good financial shape.

Heath was appointed mayor by the City Council in July of 2014 after State Senator Dave Kinskey resigned from the position. Kinskey’s resignation came after being nominated by the Sheridan County Commission to fill the vacant senate seat for District 22 after the death of Senator John Schiffer.
