Mayor Proclaims April 4th 'Day Of Service' In Buffalo

Mayor Mike Johnson proclaimed Tuesday, April 4th as “National Service Recognition Day” in the City of Buffalo.

Mayor Johnson made the proclamation during the regular meeting the same day, saying service to others has always been a hallmark of the character of the American people and that local governments are increasingly turning to National service and volunteerism to help meet their needs in a cost-effective manner.

Mayor Johnson said most of the Americorp and Seniorcorp volunteers are involved across the country in civic, neighborhood and faith-based organizations and are vital to the communities and the country.

Buffalo joins other communities and counties across the country that made the same proclamation and honored the contributions of the country's volunteers.
