The Sheridan Model Railroad Association is planning their annual open house this Saturday from 10am to 3pm in the basement of the old Taylor School. The public is invited to stop in and see the small trains running through scenes modeled on the local area and ask questions if you like. Club member Kermit Ziler explains why they like to show the layout every year.

Model railroading requires some skill in a variety of disciplines including woodworking and electronics, and even computer skills are needed for today’s toy trains.

The club layout features a number of businesses and industries that will be familiar to local residents. And the trains even run through time from one end of the layout featuring structures from the 60’s to the other end of the layout representing to 20’s and the 30’s. Ziler says the layout is like a time machine that keeps him young.

You can visit the model train layout from 10am to 3pm Saturday November 19th, in the basement of the old Taylor School, presented by the Sheridan Model Railroad Association.
