Mossholders to Change Ownership

A century old Sheridan business, that’s been under the same ownership for the past 40 years, will change hands come Friday. Sheridan native Aaron Ligocki is purchasing the assets of Mossholders Furniture from Carol and Bert Hammond, who have owned the business since 1975.

They purchased the company from Leo Mossholder, whose father co-founded the business in 1909.
Ligocki is no stranger to the furniture business. He’s been Mossholders’ warehouse manager for the past six years. He told the crowd gathered for the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday that he was looking forward to sealing the deal.

In a statement released earlier, Ligocki said Mossholders has always sold furnishings, but at one time or another, also sold appliances, electronics, pianos and pot-bellied stoves. For years, he said, the store was located across from Hammer’s Chevrolet, before moving to its current location on Coffeen Avenue. The Hammonds expanded Mossholders to several stores around the state, to include outlets in Casper, Gillette and Cheyenne, and even Hardin, Montana.
We’ll take you on a tour of the store next week, after the papers have been signed.
