New Salary Rules Explained at Chamber Event Thursday

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce brought in Brad Cave, a partner with the law firm of Holland and Hart in Cheyenne, to explain the new salary basis rules under the Fair Labor Standards Act on Thursday. Cave spoke to two different groups at the Chamber’s office on Sheridan’s Main street about the new regulations.

The current threshold for salaried workers is $23,000 per year. The new requirements more than double that. Cave explains that there are some that are fighting to prevent these rules from being implemented.

Cave urged employers to pay attention to this law over the next couple of weeks as the final status is still in question. If nothing changes, the rules will go into effect on December 1st.
