Officials Warn of Fire Danger

While the fire danger in the Bighorn National Forest is low, officials with the Forest Service want to remind people that wildfire prevention is important year round. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.


Forest Service Public Affairs Specialist Susie Douglas says that a small human caused fire late last week seven air miles northwest of Burgess Junction near Lick Creek is a reminder to never leave a campfire unattended and to completely extinguish an open campfire before leaving camp.

Fire restrictions in Sheridan County remain in effect and Sheridan County Commissioner Tom Ringley said that a recent trip to eastern Sheridan County with a couple of his fellow commissioners was very telling of the current conditions.
