The holidays present a number of opportunities for pets to get into trouble, whether it’s eating human food that isn’t meant to be consumed by animals, or trying to ingest Christmas ornaments and decorations. Veterinarian Mark Schreiber with Moxey Schreiber Veterinary Hospital says that dark chocolate can be very detrimental to your pet.

As far as Christmas decorations, Schreiber said that tinsel and garland are typically the favorites, and that signs your pet may have ingested something bad for them, be it food or some type of decoration, is vomiting and diarrhea. He said that if your pet is showing these symptoms, you should contact your veterinarian immediately.
