Police Arrest Bar Fight Suspect

The local police have arrested a man for assaulting another during a recent fight at a bar in Sheridan.

29-year-old Anthony Deflavis was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault and battery in connection with the fight that happened on Dec. 19 at the Rail's Bar. During the altercation, the victim was cut with a knife and sustained laceration injuries to the face and neck. The information comes from a news release issued today by Police Sgt. Travis Koltiska.

According to the report, Deflavis was found at a residence the police believed to be that of his girlfriend who witnessed the incident. He was found hiding in a bedroom by a sheriff's deputy as police officers were interviewing the girlfriend and family members.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the police department where he was interviewed then placed in the detention center. The girlfriend was also taken to the station and interviewed. However, she was released without charges. The case will now be presented to the Sheridan county Attorney's Office for review and possible prosecution.
