As previously reported, the petition to put the city administrator position up for a special election in Sheridan failed, due to a lack of valid signatures. 529 signatures were required, which is 10 percent of the registered voters in Sheridan that voted last election.

City Attorney Greg Von Krosigk told the City Council Monday night that there were 78 names on the petition that could not be verified, and that a four-tier review was conducted of the non-verified signatures by City Finance and Administrative Services Director Jim Harmon, City Public Works Director Nic Bateson, Sheridan Police Chief Richard Adriaens, Sheridan County Attorney Matt Redle and Sheridan County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson.

Chief Adriaens discussed the signatures that couldn’t be verified earlier this week on our news talk show Public Pulse.
