Preliminary PAWS Results Are In

Tom Sachse

At the October District 2 Board of Trustees meeting, Tom Sachse, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Assessment announced that limited and very preliminary PAWS results have come out. He says that from what he's seen so far, things look good for Sheridan 2.

Sachse told the Board that he anticipates receiving the complete PAWS data from the State in about two weeks, and will have a full report of the results at the November Board meeting.

Sachse then informed the Board that progress has been made on applying for the Consolidated Grant, which means the District has access to federal funds, via one application, for programs such as Compensatory Education, Professional Development for Teachers, Technology, Special Ed, and Perkins Education.

Also at the meeting, Superintendent Craig Dougherty reported that the Meadowlark on DeSmet site has been secured and the abatement and demolition project has begun.

Design documents for the new Meadowlark Elementary School are still under review by the Wyoming School Facilities Commission staff and are approximately 80% complete. The site documents are being developed by the civil engineers.

And the project pre-construction meeting on the Sheridan Jr. High School Hill Stabilization project was held last week. The structural wall is going through the final design by the wall construction contractor was be submitted at week's end. Dougherty says that once the wall design is approved, construction mobilization should begin within the next several weeks.
