Recreation District Announces Lifeguard Certification

The Sheridan Recreation District will hold class starting Sunday to certify or recertify people who want to be lifeguards at Kendrick Pool this summer.

Richard Wright said additional classes will be held April10, 17 and 24 and will be from 9 until 5 each day. Registration for the classes was originally through March 31, but Recreation District Director Richard Wright said that has been extended through Sunday.

He said Kendrick Pool will open this year on June 4, and the district wants 20 lifeguards available at that time. Participants must be 15 years old on or before the last day of class this month. Wright explained what instruction involves.

Participants also must know how to swim, and will be required to pass a test that includes swimming 550 yards and treading water for two minutes. He said anyone who has questions or wants to register can contact the recreation district office at 674-6421.
