Representative Madden Discusses the State’s Financial Future

It’s been almost a month since state lawmakers wrapped up the 2016 Budget Session in Cheyenne. Since that time we’ve heard from a number of our local representatives who’ve expressed the uphill battle legislators faced during the latest session with the decline in State revenues from the mineral industry, and challenges in the future if the industry doesn’t make an abrupt turnaround.

State Representative Mike Madden, a Republican from Buffalo says it is an uneasy time for legislators and the constituents they represent.

Madden said there were several factors that led to the budget session being one of the most challenging for legislators in recent memory.

We’ll hear more from Representative Madden this week regarding an issue that has sparked its fair share of controversy, the remodel of the State Capitol building in Cheyenne.
