Room Damaged in Hotel Fire

Units from Sheridan Fire and Rescue and the Goose Valley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Edwards Hotel on Main Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

One person was taken to the hospital, possibly for smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported. Sheridan Firefighter George Neeson said in addition to the firefighters, Sheridan police, a sheriff's deputy and Rocky Mountain Ambulance also responded.

Neeson said the hotel was evacuated, but occupants were later allowed to return to their rooms except for the room where the fire occurred. He said the fire was confined to that room, which was heavily smoke damaged and will have to be cleaned up before it can be occupied.

Neeson said the cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters remained on the scene until shortly after 7 p.m., and Neeson said the fire investigator remained at the scene for about another hour.
