School District 1 Hires Job Shadow Liaisons

Sheridan County School District 1 has hired two job shadow liaisons to help students prepare for college and careers.

Pete Kilbride, who's the district superintendent, said the positions are part-time.

Kilbride said the life skills teachers have had to do that in the past, and reaching out to the businesses is difficult for someone who's already teaching a full class load.

He said both job shadow liaisons are former District 1 teachers. He said the job shadow liaisons will also help set up mock interviews for the high school seniors.

Kilbride said the district also asks the high schools in Big Horn and Dayton to maintain employability skills report cards, which focus on skills such as responsibility, dependability and the student's ability to work in a collaborative environment.

He said the district believes those skills are important for business, and the district is asking that students who are interviewed be asked for those report cards.

Kilbride said one of the school district's goals is to make sure that students are college and career ready.
