Sheridan Commission Amends 2017-18 Budget

The Sheridan County Budget for 2017-18 was amended by the commissioners to show a number of necessary end-of-the-year changes, according to County Administrative Director Renee Obermueller, who explained the changes to the budget.

She said the major change was due to the annual Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) Grant funding, which the county never knows what they will get until after it is awarded after the end of the fiscal year, which in turn requires an amendment to the annual budget.
They county also received a FEMA grant for flooding in 2011 and 2012, which covered some of the county's expenses.

She explained that the remainder of the amendments came from staffing changes and from more revenue than expected being collected in one-percent optional taxes.

The commissioners approved the amendment to the budget unanimously.
