Sheridan Memorial Hospital Improves Pressure Ulcer Outcomes

Sheridan Memorial Hospital has implemented a Pressure Ulcer Prevention program that is intended to reduce the number of pressure ulcers from occurring to their patients while staying at the hospital.

Pressure Ulcers are more commonly known as bed sores. Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Peggy Callantine said that the key to the success of the program has been increased staff education and that they are pleased with the results yielded by the program so far.

According tot he Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the total cost of treatment of pressure ulcers in the United States is estimated at $11 billion a year.
