Sheridan Named a Top Ten Western Town

Sheridan's history, and the way the city continues to honor and celebrate its western legacy, is cited as a reason for Sheridan's selection by True West Magazine as one of the magazine's Top Western Towns for 2018.

The magazine has named Sheridan No. 8 among its selections. Top honor went to Abilene, Kansas, which is featured in True West's February 2018, now on the stands.

True West Executive Editor Bob Boze Bell called Sheridan one of the great treasures, noting the city has been a tourist destination for more than 100 years.

Much of the reason for that, he said, is the way the city preserves and celebrates its history. Among the attractions cited for Sheridan is the Sheridan-WYO Rodeo, which includes the First People's Pow Wow, the historic dioramas in the Sheridan County Museum, the collection of Western and American Indian art at the Brinton Museum and King's Saddlery.

This is the 13th year that True West has presented the annual Top Western Towns award.
