Sheridan PD Warns Residents of IRS Scam

Several residents of Sheridan County have reported receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be an IRS employee according to the Sheridan Police Department. Those that were called said the caller id indicates that the calls are coming from the PD and the so called IRS employee demands that they pay outstanding taxes or they will be arrested.

The Sheridan PD has no IRS agents working inside their office and besides that, the IRS does not collect outstanding debts in this manner. When confronted with this type of scam caller, residents should hang up immediately. More information regarding scams can be found at www.ic3.gov.
