Traffic Stop Results in High Speed Chase

High speed chase spans two conties and over 65 miles.

Deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office attempted a routine traffic stop Friday on Interstate 90 that resulted in a high speed chase that covered over 65 miles and lasted nearly an hour.

Troopers from Gillette assisted the deputies as the chase continued westbound at speeds over 100 mph. Troopers in Buffalo and Sheridan were alerted that the chase had crossed the Campbell/Johnson County line and was heading in their direction. Law enforcement finally brought the perpetrator to a stop near the I-90, I-25 interchange. Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant Stephen Townsend.

The driver exited the vehicle and officers observed that he had a metallic object in his hand.

The male subject, 24 year-old Khristofer Crandall, was wanted as an escapee from a halfway program in Campbell County. The vehicle, a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup had been reported stolen from Campbell County the day before.
