Two Big Horn Teachers Retire

After a teaching career that began in 1967 – with a few years' pause to raise her own children – DeDee Roberts is retiring from Sheridan County School District 1.

At Tuesday night's May Board of Trustees meeting in Big Horn, the board and a full room of attendees honored Mrs. Roberts with a tribute of tears, laughter, applause, and words lauding her history with the district. Superintendent Sue Belish.

Belish says Roberts will be remembered for her amazing recipes, her infamous Thanksgiving dinners that the students helped her create, and the hats she made every Christmas for students and staff.

It's impossible to pick out a couple highlights from the past, but one thing that Mrs. Roberts has thoroughly enjoyed, she says.

Also honored last night, in absentia, was Margaret Kennedy, about whom, Sue Belish tells us.

Belish told the audience that if Mrs. Kennedy heard even so much as a “oh, it's so cute!” from someone holding a puppy, that person was most likely going to acquire a new pet.
