A blood drive has been planned for the local area. News Director Leslie Stratmoen has the details.

A community blood drive hosted by the non-profit organization, United Blood Services, that supplies blood for hospitals across the state, including Sheridan's, is coming up next month in Sheridan.

According to company spokesman, Mike Frigon, the two-day blood drive in Sheridan will be Monday and Tuesday, April 7-8, at the Best Western Sheridan Center-Ballroom on North Main Street. The draws will be taken from noon to 7 the first day and from 11:30 to 5:30 the second day. He said donors should expect the visit to take about an hour.

He said the blood collected goes to the organization's center in Billings to be refrigerated, while the individual sample tubes collected at the same time go to a lab in Scottsdale, Ariz., for three days of testing.

He said all blood types are needed, except for AB. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are suggested. An appointment can be made by calling the service or by logging on to the company's website. Both contacts are listed with this story at
