UW Spokesman Describes Roadway Safety Study

We learned recently, as already reported, that the Wyoming Department of Transportation is partnering with the University of Wyoming to study the state’s roadways in an attempt to pave the way for safer travel.

University Spokesman Chad Baldwin called the premise of the study interesting.

He then talked about the university’s side of the partnership.

The goal, he said, is to develop tips to help drivers better navigate the roadway in hopes of avoiding a crash.

That technology he likened to a Wi-Fi network through which information could be passed between vehicles that were within a 300-yard perimeter. The study is being paid for through a $5 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
