The Johnson County Healthcare Center is asking the public to wear pink this Friday, October 14th during the first annual “Johnson County Goes Pink” event for breast cancer awareness.

JCHC Wellness Coordinator Julia Bettinger said they are working during the month of October to raise education and awareness of breast cancer.

The event is organized by the JCHC to participate in the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI) to “Paint Wyoming Pink.”

According to the WBCI, their efforts will raise awareness and education for Wyoming residents about breast cancer, emphasizing breast health education, financially assisting breast cancer screenings, facilitating patient navigation, and promoting survivor recognition.

Bettinger said it is important to remember to be pro-active in taking care of one's health and to be aware that early detection in all cancers is important for a higher survivability rate after detection.
