A study commissioned by University of Wyoming President Bob Sternberg indicated that the university needs additional funding for their athletic programs to be able to compete with the other schools in the Mountain West Conference.

State Representative John Patton was a guest on Tuesday's Public Pulse program on News Talk 930 KROE, where he weighed in on this week's Bank of Sheridan-Sheridan Media Poll Question: Should the State Legislature increase funding for UW athletics.

College Sports Associates, the firm that conducted the study, said in its report that an overall culture change is needed in athletics before the university can expect to compete for conference championships, and that the university has become content with mediocrity in its sports programs.
