Whitney Benefits Gift Supports SC Computer Programs

Whitney Benefits Foundation presented a check for more than $890,000 to Sheridan College Monday, to support and strengthen the college's computer programs.

Whitney Benefits President Tom Kinnison said the donation will help provide programs and instructors for computer coding.

Also speaking during a ceremony Monday at Sheridan College, College President Dr. Paul Young talked about the impacts for corporations and for students.

Also speaking was Craig Dougherty, superintendent for Sheridan County School District 2, who said the support from Whitney Benefits will allow the school district along with Sheridan College to align computer programmi9ng and computer science programs with Project Lead the Way, which is a nationally recognized curriculum and teacher development model.
