Troopers for the Wyoming Highway Patrol were very busy over the St. Patrick’s Day extended holiday weekend around the state and fortunately, the weekend proved to be non-fatal. From the 17th through the 19th, the Highway Patrol conducted over 1,130 and of those stops only 17 impaired drivers were arrested. However, they did issue 443 citations for speeding and 65 for seat-belt violations. To increase their presence, identify impaired drivers and other concerns of highway safety in Wyoming, Troopers utilized a federal highway safety DUI overtime grant.

Dispatchers also stayed busy as they fielded 1,901 calls, 43 of those calls were for the REDDI(Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) program. They also dispatched 1,862 events during the weekend.
