Wyoming Congresswoman Opposes President’s Gun Control Push

Wyoming’s lone Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis said this week that President Obama’s recent words and actions regarding gun control are a desperate attempt by a last term president to come up with what she called, “legacy points.”

On Tuesday, President Obama issued executive orders on gun control and spoke at a press conference calling for gun control legislation.

She went on to say the president cannot claim to respect the Constitution while at the same time use the swipe of his pen to impose restrictions on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.

In Wyoming, she says, we know the value of the Second Amendment and understand its importance for self-defense and safeguarding our liberty. Neither the Republican Congress nor the American people, she says, will stand for infringement of these rights.

In a statement released by the oval office, the president said he was not looking to score points, but said constant excuses for inaction no longer suffice.
