Wyoming Reports 515 Jobs From Federal Stimulus

CHEYENNE, (AP) - Wyoming reports that state and local spending from the federal economic stimulus program has created or retained the equivalent of 515 jobs in the state since it started early this year.

Wyoming submitted lengthy reports to the federal government last weekend about the effect of the federal stimulus program in the state. State officials say the final figures are still subject to change before they're released later this month.

Office of State Lands and Investments Director Lynne Boomgaarden is heading up the state's stimulus efforts. Boomgaarden says the stimulus program has expended more than $51 million in Wyoming through September, not counting Medicaid funding. She says the federal program has committed more than $409 million to the state.
